There's more to geography than locating state capitals and identifying mountain ranges and rivers. Geographers predict the weather and analyze environmental changes; they deal with issues of population such as where population is greatest and why and how populations change and have changed. They work in tourist development and for international businesses.

The tourism development concentration and the accompanying minor in the Geography Department focus on the planning, development and marketing of tourism at regional and community levels, and the development and preservation of cultural and environmental characteristics as tourism resources.
