At Hull, you research history under the supervision and guidance of leading experts who are active historians working on everything from ancient Rome to modern Britain. We offer postgraduate research degrees at both Masters and PhD levels in a wide variety of historical subjects, genres, disciplines and methodologies. We have a strong tradition of supporting postgraduate and early career researchers.

History research at Hull ranges from Palaeolithic America to the contemporary Philippines, by way of modern Australia, India, the Middle East, Britain and Europe from the early middle ages to the 21st century. Thematic strengths include maritime, military, global, social, economic, environmental, cultural, intellectual and political history, as well as the history of slavery and of adaptive technologies.

为来自中国的学生设计 The majority of our taught Masters programmes / research Masters programmes and PhDs require that you hold a qualification equivalent to an upper second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.1), although some programmes, especially PhDs may have higher entry requirements. We generally consider Bachelor degree awarded by a nationally recognised higher education institution in China to be comparable to a UK Bachelor Honours degree. Lower second-class (2.2) equivalen - Overall grade of 70%. We may be able to accept a minimum grade of 65% if you have studied at a prestigious University as defined by the Ministry of Education. Upper second-class (2.1) equivalent - Overall grade of 75 %. We may be able to accept a minimum grade of 70% if you have studied at a prestigious University as defined by the Ministry of Education. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)- Academic Test (all test centres) 6.0 overall (with a minimum 5.5 in each skill) 5.5 overall with 5.5 in each skill accepted for entry to degrees with integrated foundation year.
