Statistics is a scientific discipline that is concerned with the drawing of objective conclusions from investigations where outcomes are subject to uncertainty or variability.

In Statistics, mathematical methods are developed and applied to guide the design of investigations, the collection and handling of data, the analysis and modelling of data, and the interpretation of the results. Statistics has applications in almost every academic discipline and many areas of everyday life.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Our graduates have statistical, computational, numerate and presentational skills which are applicable in many fields such as medicine, education, transport, agriculture, engineering and economics. They are employed in a variety of posts such as quality engineer, actuary, accountant, credit risk analyst, clinical statistician, statistician, statistical programmer, teacher and operational researcher. Others go on to undertake postgraduate degrees.

为来自中国的学生设计 The University will consider students who have gained good scores in the Gaokao exam for direct entry into first year. Students who have taken a recognised foundation or access programme or equivalent will also be considered, as well as those students who have taken international qualifications such as the IB diploma, GCE A Levels, AP and SATs. Please refer the university website for details of the English Language requirements for entry to individual undergraduate degree programmes.
