The State of Ohio has recognized The University of Findlay's computer science degree as unique and student-focused. Receiving designation as a Program of Innovation, our computer science program gives students a solid background in computer knowledge, combined with any of five areas of emphasis. This emphasis is an excellent foundation for a career or to prepare the student for graduate studies.

Information Assurance Emphasis

In today's high-technology environment, homes and businesses must be constantly vigilant about computer security and information management. The demand for trained individuals in this area will continue to grow. Completion of the information assurance emphasis at The University of Findlay can increase your marketability upon graduation.

An emphasis in information assurance prepares students for careers as information security analysts in addition to software engineering. Graduates will be able to manage risks associated with the use, processing, storage and transmission of information or data and the systems and processes used for these purposes. This curriculum has been certified by the Committee on National Security Systems and The National Security Agency as one of the elite programs nationwide, meeting the National Training Standard for Information Systems Security Professionals, NSTSSI 4011. Classroom topics include:

• Threats to information security
• Securing and defending the business network
• Secure payments, encryption and authentication
• Stopping data "thieves"

Career opportunities are plentiful!

There are several areas of focus in the field of information assurance, including support services, sales, consulting or network systems. Depending on your focus and geographic location, a starting salary of $45,000-$60,000 per year is a reasonable expectation.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have high school grades (minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average) and class rank. English Language Requirements: TOEFL (iBT) score of at least 61, an IELTS score of at least 6.0, a Pearson Test of English (academic) of at least 50, or an International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) of at least 3.5.
