Why choose this course?

The postgraduate programmes in Building Information Modelling (BIM) reflect the growing need for design and construction professionals with skills in this rapidly emerging construction approach. The 2011 Government Construction Strategy stated that Building Information Modelling (BIM) was to be adopted and utilised on all centrally procured public projects by 2016. Since then the uptake of BIM has been significant across the entire built environment sector.

The aim of these courses is to equip students with high-level knowledge and understanding of processes, tools and techniques of implementing BIM in today’s global construction industry. Students will not only develop a comprehension of how the associated digital tools can be implemented through use of prevailing standards and protocols, but also how implementation can be managed within the business context of the AEC sector.

Career Paths

Students who complete the MSc BIM will have a specific and relevant qualification in the field of BIM, which is currently of high importance for the industry.

We pride ourselves on a very high employability rate for our postgraduate students with many of our students becoming BIM coordinators, BIM Managers, Digital Specialists and Digital Engineers. Potential employment opportunities for graduates include: architectural and interior design practices; civil engineering practices; local authorities; environmental management agencies; space-planning and office furniture companies; and design consultancies.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students who have completed a 4 year Bachelor degree from a NARIC or government recognised institution and can provide both a bachelor degree certificate and graduation certificate are eligible for entrance onto Master’s degrees: A score of 75% is considered comparable to a UK 2:1; A score of 65% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2; A score of less than 65% is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-masters course. English language requirements vary by course and department but the standard University requirement is 6.0 with 5.5 in every component in IELTS or the same scores in the University’s own entry test, the Wolverhampton English Proficiency Examination (WEPE).
