专业概况

在这里学什么？ The foundation year in computer science offers an entry route for those students who do not have the required entry requirements for all three-year degree pathways in the department of computer science. Successful completion of the foundation year enables an automatic progression onto the first year of any of: BSc Computer Science, BEng Software Engineering, BSc Digital Media Development, BSc Business Information Systems and BSc Computer Games Development and students who progress to the 3-year degrees via this foundation year route have traditionally performed very well. The foundation year route may also be of interest if you do not feel ready to start the first year of an undergraduate course, perhaps because you have been out of education for some time or you feel your current qualifications will not equip you to attempt a 3-year undergraduate computing course directly. This course will give you a clear perspective of the current nature and practice of business information systems. In Year 1 you will be introduced to the main fundamental concepts and in Year 2 and Year 3 you will follow the specialist themes which interest you the most. You will take some modules offered by Westminster Business School. This course develops your understanding of the business challenges of an enterprise, and your ability to conceive and manage solutions which are increasingly ICT-dependent. You will integrate your skills of problem solving and information systems modelling with your knowledge of business processes and environments. You will be able to consult on, support or develop the technological platforms of an enterprise to achieve competitive advantage, building a career in roles ranging from systems developer to business manager.

为来自中国的学生设计 For entry into Year 1 of Bachelor's degrees (Level 4), you will typically need to have a recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution or a Chinese institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%. Undergraduate Bachelor's degrees – IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each component.
