专业概况

Join the Missouri S&T elementary education program! Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)-focused program provides students with diverse and challenging opportunities to develop their teaching skills in nearby schools. Students learn from experienced instructors, collaborate with fellow pre-service teachers, and observe in elementary classrooms throughout the program.

As a graduate of S&T’s elementary education program, you’ll earn a Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies with a concentration in math or science and will be certified to teach first through sixth grade.

This program is approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Students intending to teach in other states are responsible for investigating the reciprocity agreement of that state agency.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM

Teaching middle school is a challenging but rewarding career. Missouri and many other states are experiencing a teacher shortage, particularly in rural areas, so there are plenty of jobs available! At S&T, students seeking middle school certification earn a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Studies including the completion of education coursework required for Missouri certification. Experiences in schools are embedded throughout the program, beginning second semester freshman year. The program balances rigorous content knowledge with a commitment to building engaging learning experiences in small, interactive education courses.

Students seeking middle school certification (grades 5-9) will choose one of the following content areas:

• Mathematics
• Science
• Social Studies
